BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Somerset County Department of Health on Tuesday reported an increase of 52 confirmed positive tests for the COVID-19 virus in the county overnight, bringing the total number of cases to 14,559 reported since March 8.

The 52 additional cases actually represent the smallest daily increase in the county since Jan. 4. As recently as Jan. 9, there was an increase of 206 confirmed cases in a single day. 

The three-day average of new cases is 82.3. The average for the previous three-day period was 148.7.

There was one new case confirmed in Bernards Township on Tuesday.

The New Jersey Department of Health on Tuesday reported a total of 572.306 positive cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began its spread in the state 315 days ago, an increase of 3,733 overnight. The death toll in New Jersey is 18,421, an increase of 54 overnight. 

Here is the breakdown of confirmed cases by town: Bedminster, 233; Bernardsville, 345; Bernards Township, 904; Bound Brook, 825; Branchburg, 455, Bridgewater, 1,600; Far Hills, 20; Franklin, 3,732; Green Brook, 325; Hillsborough/Millstone, 1,458; Manville, 600; Montgomery, 587; North Plainfield, 1,164; Peapack-Gladstone, 142; Raritan, 398; Rocky Hill, 19; Somerville, 627; South Bound Brook, 283; Warren, 548; Watchung, 252.

COVID-19 testing at Raritan Valley Community College will continue on Wednesdays Jan. 20 and 27.

Residents must have an appointment and a valid form of identification to be tested. Appointments can be scheduled online at https://somerset-hunterdon.adlabscovidtest.com/.  A physician’s prescription is not required.

Testing is free of charge and open to Somerset County residents, age five (5) and older. Residents who do not have computer access, or who would like to schedule an appointment for children age five to 18 years old, can call the COVID-19 testing information line at 908-203-6014, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., not including county holidays.
