Somerset County Restaurants Combine for a Culinary Smorgasbord to Benefit the PeopleCare Center

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The 24th annual Taste of Somerset, the area’s original gourmet tasting event affords guests the opportunity to sample the finest appetizers, entrees, desserts, and beverages that the region has to offer.

Taste is scheduled for Monday, May 23 from 6-9 p.m. at The Palace at Somerset Park, 333 Davidson Avenue in Somerset. The event is a fundraiser for PeopleCare in Somerset County.

The 2016 Taste of Somerset will feature chefs from more than 40 of the region’s best restaurants including several in Somerville and more than one dozen beverage providers. Guests will stroll through the Palace, sampling the finest fare from the area’s best restaurants.

Proceeds from the event support the PeopleCare Center and the non-profit tenants housed in the facility at 120 Finderne Ave. in Bridgewater, NJ.

Taste tickets are available at a discounted price of $75 for the all-you-can-eat event. Tickets are available online at or at the PeopleCare Center office at 120 Finderne Avenue in Bridgewater. For information, call 908-725-2299.

“Taste of Somerset provides a unique opportunity to sample the county’s finest restaurants,” said Marie Hughes, executive director of the PeopleCare Center. “It is a terrific experience for anyone who enjoys dining out. The discounted tickets make great gifts for friends, relatives, and business associates.”

Here's a list of the dozens of restaurants, including The Bernards Inn in Bernardsville and  Maggiano's Little Italy in Bridgewater, along with more information on the PeopleCare Center.

The tenants of the PeopleCare Center, and the people they serve, have benefited from the money that has been raised by the annual event, having generated more than $400,000 over the years.

PeopleCare Center was established in 1984 as a permanent home for human service agencies. PeopleCare is a private non-profit organization in Somerset County which provides a physical plant to house non-profit agencies and organizations at below market cost.  Among the services addressed by PeopleCare tenants are homelessness, literacy, child care, foster care children, education, and individuals of all ages with various disabilities.
