Somerville HS Pioneers Swim Team Overwhelmed by Bernards HS Mountaineers

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerville High School Pioneers combined Girls’ and Boys’ swim team was overwhelmed by a dominant Bernards HS squad Wednesday at the Somerville YMCA by a final score of 102-68.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24 Ridge will take on Ville at the Somerset Hills YMCA pool.

The Pioneers girl team is 3-5 on the season, while the boys’ team has yet to win.

“We tried our hardest, we had fun with it; Bernards has a very strong team,” said ‘Ville co-captain Cipriana Christodoulou.

The Pioneers managed to win a few events, according to Christodoulou, the 200-meter freestyle and 400-meter relay.

The “Ville swimmers finished second in the 200-meter medley relay; the 100-meter butterfly; the 400-meter relay and the 100-meter backstroke, according to Christodoulou.
