BASKING RIDGE, NJ - In gearing up for this year's St. James Men of Charity fourth annual “5K for Kindness” Race/Walk, scheduled for Thursday, May 7, all area students age 18 and under are invited to enter the event's annual t-shirt design contest.

The winning entry will be selected and featured on the front of the official 5K for Kindness event t- shirt. The fundraising 5K run and 1-mile walk is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on May 7 at St. James Church, 184 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge.

Deadline April 12 for t-shirt contest

This year's winner of the t-shirt design contest will receive a $50 gift certificate, as well as getting to see their design featured on the Race/Walk T-Shirts. The top 10 finalist swill receive a $10 gift certificate to Penguin Ice Cream shop in Bernardsville.

Run is USATF certified/sanctioned

Runners/Walkers can sign up for the 5K at: The event will be a festive family friendly event with food, beverages, face painting for the kids and live music. Runners should be aware the course is USATF certified/sanctioned.

Early registration by 4/28 is $20. After 4/28 & on race day, registration is $25. USATF members may register for $17 until until 4/28.

T-Shirt Design Rules

- Designs may use only 3 colors or fewer.
- Colors (3 or less, black is a color). Solid colors please (no change in tones)
- The design must be drawn on a plain white sheet of paper
- Ink or computer. No pencil please (it’s too light for shirt graphics).
- Please leave border/spacing around the edges for scanning

Design must be original work designed by the student (no parent or adults) and must not contain any third-party logos or trademarks.
