Basking Ridge, NJ- Charter Day in downtown Basking Ridge was attracting a growing crowd as rain held off for the opening ceremonies, and the start of the many activities that are scheduled to last until at least 10 p.m. tonight.

Rides for kids, the Battle of the Musicians, lots of food vendors serving up treats and meals, historic exhibits, and more are underway.

Festivities for Charter Day start in the Heart of Bernards Township. North Finley and Henry street are prepared for over 10,000 residents and guests about to arrive from 11am thru the night.  The Bands started jamming at 12:30pm.

The Town Cryer rang his bell loudlyas he moved down North Finley Avenue and ended up on stage with many special Guests like U.S. Representative Leonard Lance of the 7th Congressional district. Samantha Sharpe sang the National anthem.
