LIBERTY CORNER, NJ- Rainy weather failed to dampen the Memorial Day Parade and dedication ceremony in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township.
Liberty Corner Fire Chief Kenneth White acknowledged that he couldn't control the rain - but he noted that showing up to honor fallen veterans was "a small price to pay compared to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice."
Both Liberty Corner and the Basking Ridge Fire companies and first aid squads joined the parade. This year, it was the Liberty Corner Fire Co.'s turn to host the parade. The all-volunteer organization also welcomed the public back to the firehouse for refreshments.
The Ridge High School Marching Band and local scouting groups valiantly march with rain parkas, umbrellas, and optimism that the rain would cease - which it did, only to stop and start again while the procession made it way down Church Street, honored the veterans and residents and marchers returned to the firehouse.
