William Annin Middle School Boys Basketball Team Wins League Championship

BERNARDS TWP., NJ - March Madness? Not quite. But the boys’ basketball team at William Annin Middle School was applauded Monday night at the Board of Education meeting.

Team members were introduced and given certificates after a season that saw them win the Central Jersey Junior School Athletic Association League title

Head Coach Francesco LoCascio introduced the players and recapped the season. The Vikings built a season record of 15-1 and then won three games in the tournament. The only loss came to Franklin Middle School on a buzzer-beating shot, but WAMS avenged the defeat, 49-45, in the championship final.

It was LoCascio’s third championship team at WAMS. He coached the team to titles in 2007 and 2009, before coaching at the freshman, JV and varsity levels at the high school from 2010 to 2017.

Team members were Arnav Arni, Brett Astrin, James Deady, Dillon DiDario, Christopher Dong, Matthew Fabbio, Will Hubert, Jayden Hylton, Zio Kim, Nicolas Losada, Sean McCluskey, Michael Olivo and captains Gavin Kreitz, Colin Lombardi and Russell Tam.

Assistant coach was Brad Whitford.
