BASKING RIDGE, NJ - Couples from around New Jersey and New York attended the Winter Wedding Show at Basking Ridge Country Club on Saturday, Jan. 28.

On one side of the ballroom, a chef prepared a noodle stir fry served in a small Chinese Restaurant take out container with chop sticks.  These seemed to be a favorite of the guests, all of whom were anxious to taste the noodles and freshly prepared veggies from the seasonal Market Display.  Elsewhere, staff prepared adult beverages, and served hors d'oeuvres and cake.

The guests tested the food and beverages at beautifully set tables, admired the centerpieces and the view of rolling hills, and studied the literature they had picked up from the Basking Ridge Country Club and the many vendors who set up displays in other areas of the event space.

Whether people needed information on tuxedos, flowers, photographers, hotel accommodations, videographers, makeup or limousines, they could find it there. For many couples, this was their first wedding show and they eagerly entered a drawing for a Caribbean honeymoon trip.

Others wanted to take advantage of the club's Promotional Wedding Package, with pricing beginning at just $70* per guest on available 2017 dates. (*Taxes and service charge additional.)

Three couples who spoke to TAPinto had already booked their wedding receptions at the Basking Ridge Country Club.

Berkeley Heights was in the house in force - six people in one group, two of whom work at Summit Medical Group, came to the show even though the happy couple, Nicole Fargione and Jonathan Ryan, have already booked their reception at the club. They will be married in April at Little Flower Church and came with his parents Dennis and Cindy Ryan, Nicole's mom Donna Fargione and Donna's boyfriend John Luby to visit the venue one more time. Dennis Ryan pointed out "Jonathan is the seventh of our 10 children," and it's the fourth wedding the family will have had.

Nicole said they chose the club because "we met at Delicious Heights" and since Delicious Heights does the catering at the club, knew they had to have the wedding there.

Sharmaine Cerilla and Joshua Lopez of Bayonne, who are getting married in August, said they found the club when they searched online for wedding venues. Lopez said "we decided to visit ... Catering Manager Danielle gave us all the information and we instantly fell in love" with the venue. Cerilla said this was their second visit to the club and they are even more excited.

Theresa Fox of Staten Island brought a friend with her to see the venue where she and her fiancée will be getting married on Aug. 5.  Fox said a friend had gotten married at the club. She saw the photos and "we came here and loved it."  They are even having their wedding ceremony at the club.

Ariana Almeida of Elizabeth and Lucas Bonilla of Roselle said they were "just looking."  Basking Ridge Country Club was their eighth venue. They haven't made up their mind - yet, but Almeida said "budget wise this is really great, we love the view and the location is great."

I can enjoy the same movies over and over like it were the first time to see them.  My kids roll their eyes at this.  Well, many unimaginable things happen as you become a certain age, and you tend to learn to accept those things graciously as gift.   But I remember the movie “The Blind Side.”  Until I saw that movie, I didn’t know homeless children ...
