BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ After about four months of being closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Bernards Township Library is set to open for browsing on Monday, July 13 _ however, library patrons will have to first book an appointment  to get in the door.

Forty-five minute appointments will be available on the hour. Patrons must schedule an appointment to enter the library, either online or by calling 908-204-3031 ext. 126. The library building, located at 32 S. Maple Ave., is scheduled to reopen at 11 a.m. on Monday.

Masks must be worn at all times by both staff and patrons, including children over the age of two. The masks worn must fully cover visitors' nose and mouth.

Curbside pickup of library materials to continue

Curbside pickup of materials ordered from the library, which was launched two weeks ago, will continue, and the library staff is encouraging library patrons to use this service. Members of the Bernards Township Library can "order" a book, audiobook, or movie and then pick it up via curbside service provided by the library staff.

To arrange for curbside pick-up service, library patrons can begin by placing a hold on an item in one of several ways:

- Placing a hold online in the library catalog.

- Emailing the staff at curbside@bernardslibrary.org.

- Calling the library at 908-204-3031, option 1.

- Texting the library at 908-365-0776.

Borrowers can pick up their items the next day after receiving notification that materials have been made ready: 15 minutes before arriving for pickup, they must call 908-204-3031, option 1.

Borrowers will need to confirm their name and library card number.

Upon arriving at the library parking lot, vehicles will be directed to park in one of the three designated spaces in the library's back lot (parallel to the library building). If these spots are full, borrowers should pull into another spot until a curbside spot is free.

The complete process for curbside pickup is outlined on the Bernards Township Library website.

Starting this week, in-person and curbside pickup hours at the library will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday for in-building browsing, but curbside pickups will no longer be held on Saturdays going forward.

The library will remain closed on Sundays.
