COLUMBUS, NJ -- For the fifth consecutive outdoor track season, a 4x800 relay team from Ridge High School won gold at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions.
In fact, the 4x800 relays were a sweep for Ridge, as the boys team from Ridge also won that event.
The girls' team of junior Manon Stephen (2:19.7), junior Olivia Cicchetti (2:15.4), freshman Grace LaCapra (2:17.8) and sophomore Morgan Lyons (2:15.6) ran a season-best time of 9:08.75 to win the 4x800-meter relay Saturday at Northern Burlington High School.
The 4×800 has only been contested in MOC’s since 2010, and Ridge teams have won half of the 10 4x800 races in the annual meet. The event has been contested three times indoors and Ridge has won all three. Thirteen different athletes have run in the eight relays.
The boys' 4x800 team of junior Alex Sargen, sophomore Luke Roberts, sophomore Will Pinto and senior Ryan Lindrud came in first with a time of 7:44.46.
Lindrud also finished seventh in the 1600-meter run at the M of C with a time of 4:14.39.
