BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- Sophie Beneventine, a junior point guard at Ridge High School, last week made a verbal commitment to continue her basketball career at Boston University.
In the season just completed, the 5-foot-8 playmaker averaged 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists. She will head into her senior season with 767 career points.
With Beneventine, a three-year varsity starter, running the offense, Ridge has improved every season dating back to her freshman year. This season, Ridge finished 20-9, after going 16-12 in 2018.
"We're all really excited for Sophie," said Ridge girls basketball head coach Eric Schroeder. "She has really earned this. She is a phenomenal point guard and a great leader. We're extremely proud of her, and excited for next season. She became more of a leader, both on and off the court, this year. She is like a second coach on the court."
