Community Handbell Choir To Perform in Basking Ridge May 23

The Raritan Ringers, a choir of advanced handbell ringers from communities in north central New Jersey, will present a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 150 S. Finley Ave., in Basking Ridge.

The select group of 13 adult handbell ringers, founded in 2003, is led by F. Paul Dickey, Director of Music at the United Reformed Church in Somerville. It will perform popular tunes arranged for bells, and the latest pieces in repertoire written especially for bells. The program will include classical works by Haydn, Beethoven and Mozart, as well as a march by George M. Cohen, a song from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” by Burt Bacharach and a 2018 arrangement by Joel Raney of “Fly Me to the Moon.”

Special guest performers will be the Phantom Trombone Choir, a quartet known in the Basking Ridge area for their annual tradition of caroling during the Christmas season. Several are members of the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra.

A free-will offering will be taken; donations to cover expenses will be gratefully accepted.

As the Baby Boom generation ages, advisors increasingly will be working with clients in the distribution stage of their portfolios. Advising on IRA distributions can be more challenging than advising on accumulation.

If clients save substantial amounts, invest in a well-diversified portfolio, and focus on tax-advantaged accounts, accumulation success may be obtained.
