Free A Cappella Singing Lessons Offered by Women’s Chorus

The Hickory Tree Chorus chapter of Sweet Adelines International invites women singers to register for its free “Sing A Cappella Series” of vocal workshops. Women will learn to sing chord-ringing, fun-filled, four-part a cappella music, Wednesdays, 7:15pm, January 4, 11, 18, and 25 at The Shrine of St Joseph, 1050 Long Hill Road, Stirling, NJ.  The series kicks off with a ‘Happy Half Hour Mixer’ 7:15pm, January 4.

Women of average singing ability, with or without vocal training or the ability to read music, are invited to experience the joy of singing a cappella harmony. Each week guests will participate in vocal and physical warm-ups with the chorus, then break-out for special vocal sessions guided by members of Hickory Tree Chorus’s trained music staff.  On January 25th guests will have the opportunity to be coached with the chorus by renowned Sweet Adelines International vocal performance coach, Mo Field.

Tina Petersen, a current member of HTC whose first introduction to the chorus was through the “Sing A Cappella Series” recalls, "I always loved to sing and found I was really sad when I was no longer singing with my girls at their Mommy & Me music classes. I saw a flyer for Hickory Tree's free “Sing A Cappella Series” and decided to come. I feel so lucky to have joined this award-winning chorus. Singing with Hickory Tree Chorus has brought joy to my heart on a weekly basis. The fellowship of this warm, talented group of women is a real treasure on my mom's night out."

The Hickory Tree Chorus performs regularly throughout the community, produces an annual show, and awards an annual $1,000 scholarship to an area high school girl continuing her vocal music education in college.
