BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- Ridge Marching Band hosted the 10th anniversary of its “Ridge Marching Madness” home competition on Oct. 19 featuring a lineup of 14 area bands that competed and earned scores for creative musical arrangements, movement and pageantry.
More than 2,000 participants and spectators filled Lee Field for the Ridge Home Competition, which is a U.S. Bands-sanctioned “Gold Showcase” competition.
The winners of 2019 Ridge Marching Madness by U.S. Bands group include:
Group IA - Passaic Valley High School with a score of 80.963
Group II Open - Wayne Valley High School with a score of 85.750
Group IIIA - Pequannock Township High School with a score of 86.288
Group III Open - Roxbury High School with a score of 87.875
Group IVA - Nutley High School with a score of 89.762
Group VA - West Milford High School with a score of 88.288
The Ridge Marching Band, as the host band, performed its 2019 show, “Dark Side of the Moon,” and was judged in exhibition.
“Our 10th anniversary home competition was a tremendous success,” said Ridge High School Band Association Co-President Ellen Polito. “We proudly sponsored the performances of hundreds of talented, dedicated high school musicians and Color Guard performers. Through the volunteerism of our Band parents and families, and the generosity of our Ridge school district and business community, the home competition contributed to the future success of Marching Band for our students.”

Ridge Marching Band will wrap its competition season by performing at NJ State Championships on Oct. 27 at Rowan University. The band has prevailed this season winning first place at the Piscataway High School competition and second place at the Yamaha Cup Competition held at MetLife Stadium.
Ridge Marching Band consistently has achieved top honors with Caption Awards including Best Visuals, Best Color Guard, Best Music, Best Overall Effect and Best Percussion. The band also was recognized by U.S. Bands with The Cadets Award of Excellence, which is bestowed to the school that exemplifies the pursuit of entertainment, creativity and excellence, and represents the commitment to music as a platform to teach life lessons.
