BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- The Ridge Youth Sports varsity cheerleaders took first place in a recent national competition.

The girls competed at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship Feb. 7-9 in Orlando, Fla., taking first place in the Senior Rec Game Day division.

The team also competed in two other divisions, placing fourth in the nation for Traditional Senior Rec and third in the world competing against teams from both the U.S. and other nations.

The team, comprised of girls in grades 6-8, returned to Basking Ridge as national champions. The girls will be recognized at the next Township Committee meeting Feb. 25 at 8 p.m.
