BERNARDS TWP., NJ -- VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 7858 of Bernardsville, with members from throughout th Somerset Hills, has been continuing its tradition of making donations to the Bernards Township Library, which help the library acquire military related materials.

Bernards Township Library Director Ruth Lufkin said she was delighted with a personal visit recently from VFW representatives Fred Buehler and Phil Heinold of Bernardsville and Basking Ridge, 

Joining Lufkin in greeting the veterans was Karen Vaias, Supervising Reference, who said, “These funds make it easy for us to acquire military related materials that are especially useful to local veterans who use the library."

Vaias said that in addition to materials that assist returning veterans with job transition to the civilian community, the library has purchased many books and movies that represent the armed services.  

A complete set of new flags installed at the Library a couple of years back was paid for with VFW Post 7858 funds. “The Library deeply appreciates the thoughtful and enthusiastic support of these community members,” said Lufkin.  

Buehler currently serves as commander of the post, whose members come from around the Somerset Hills, and support veterans, community, and youth. The VFW also fosters patriotism with a wide range of activities year round. Additional information about the Post is on 

The Bernards Township Library, located at 32 S.
