BERNARDS TWP., NJ -- [Updated at 8 a.m.] Due to road closures after this week's ice storm, parents in some areas of town were being asked to drive their children to school on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Due to the road closures, certain buses will not be able to access stops and provide service for portions of their routes, the school district posted on Thursday a.m. As of about 8 a.m., Manchester Drive was still being reported as closed. (WA20), along with Liberty Corner Road between Somerville Road and Douglas Road. (RH05, RH11, RH14, WA02, WA24, CH9, LC2, LC3)
"If the bus can’t access your area please transport your child to and from school, please do not have them ride the school bus. If a child is on a bus and their bus stop can’t be accessed the child will be returned to their school unless an alternative stop is arranged with parents, school, dispatch, and driver," the school district noted on its website at that time.
On Wednesday, one school building, Cedar Hill Elementary School, was closed due to a lack of power and heat.
Parents were asked to check their emails early on Thursday. "An update on road closures and interruptions in bus service will be emailed in the early morning hours," according to the school officials.
