BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ -- The retirement of Ali Ciavola, a Special Education teacher at William Annin Middle School, was accepted by the Bernards Township Board of Education on Sept. 23. The notice is effective Dec. 31.

The board received the resignation of Kim Elber, a Grade 5 teacher at Liberty Corner School, effective Nov. 11, and hired Joanne Finnen as a Grade 5 teacher for the school from Nov. 25 to the end of the school year.

Angela Gonnella, a part-time school psychologist at Ridge High School, resigned effective Nov. 15.

Also approved were child care leaves for Michelle Lam, a special education teacher at Mount Prospect School, from Nov. 25 and returning in September 2020, and for Daria Pizzuto, a teacher of Spanish at William Annin Middle School, from Dec. 20 to May 21, 2020.

Jesse Rice was hired as a math teacher at William Annin Middle School starting Nov. 25 and running to the end of the school year.

Two instructional aides were hired and started this week. They are Juana Schwed at Mount Prospect School and Dominic Vignali in Ridge High School.
