BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ -- Three retirement notices were accepted by the Bernards Township Board of Education in April and May meetings.
The board accepted the retirements of:
-- Susan Kennedy, a math teacher at Ridge High School, as of June 30.
-- Frank Biraghi, a districtwide information technology technician, as of June 30.
-- Kathy Slack, a secretary at Oak Street School, effective Sept. 30.
The board also accepted the resignations of Monica Valencia, a learning disabilities teaching consultant at Mount Prospect School, as of June 30, and of Nicole Economy, a districtwide educational technology assistant, effective May 29.
The board appointed Rebecca Tritt as a student assistance counselor for the rest of the current school year and again for the 2020-21 school year.
In recent meetings, the board made maternity leave replacement hires. It appointed Anne Duque as a school counselor at Mount Prospect School from Sept. 1 to Oct. 21, and Brian Thomas as a Grade 4 teacher at Cedar Hill School for the 2020-21 school year.
On April 13, the board hired Vanessa Kuronya as an instructional aide at Mount Prospect School through June 18.
Four child care leaves were approved:
- For Megan Licata, a Grade 4 teacher at Liberty Corner School, effective Sept. 1, and returning Jan. 4, 2021.
- For Nicole Simms, a special education teacher at Ridge High School, effective Sept. 16, and returning Feb. 1, 2021.
- For Nancy Spilletti, an instructional aide at Cedar Hill School, effective Sept. 1, and returning Sept. 1, 2021.
- For Vivian Longo, a special education educator at Ridge High, starting Sept. 1 and returning Feb. 1, 2021.
