BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two special education teachers were granted leave and a replacement was hired at the Bernards Township Board of Education meeting July 23.

Child care leaves were granted to special education teachers Nicole Scaplen at William Annin Middle School and Katharine Swankie at Cedar Hill School.

Scaplen will leave effective Sept. 24 and return Dec. 21, and Swankie will be gone starting Oct. 9 and return July 1, 2022.

The board hired Jennifer Bonica as a special education teacher for Cedar Hill School for the next school year.

Clare Duffy was hired as a reading specialist and Taylor Hine as a music teacher, both at Liberty Corner School, for the next school year.

Julia Shicatano was hired as a maternity leave replacement dance teacher at Ridge High from Sept. 1 through Jan. 31, 2021,

The board accepted the resignation of Chris Brown, an instructional aide at Ridge High School.

Districtwide, Janet Lubaszka was named transportation coordinator at an annual salary of $81,500 effective on or before Aug. 24 through June 30, 2021.

Henry Hansen was hired as a district information technology technician and Dariusz Milewski as a district IT specialist. Both will start in August and are hired for the school year.
