BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Bernards School officials have revised the school day schedule for Monday, the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday, because of weather setting a two-hour delayed opening of 10 a.m. for Ridge High School and the William Annin Middle School, and 10:45 a.m. at the district's four elementary schools.

School buses will run on a two-hour delay, according to information on the Bernards Township school website. The website said the late opening is due to the weather forecast for Monday morning, which calls for high winds and temperatures in the single digits.

Because of the holiday, schools had originally been scheduled to dismiss early. However, all schools now are scheduled to end the day at regular dismissal times, according to information on the website and confirmation from the school board shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday.

The holiday had been on the calendar as a day off, as it had been last year. However, the shortened day was placed back on the calendar as a make-up day following closures for inclement weather in the first half of the 2018-19 school year.
