‘Early Literacy Storytime' Begins Sept. 12 at Bernards Township Library

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ – What’s the best way to help a child learn to read? Read to them, even when they are too young to understand what they are hearing.

The Bernards Township Library’s Early Literacy Storytime groups begin this week, and there’s still time to sign up. Parents are asked to choose Only One Class and one time period for their child.

Promoting Early Literacy programs are offered to the following age groups:

Baby Time – ages birth to 15 months, from 9:30 to 9:50 a.m. on Thursdays. No registration is required, just drop in!

Toddler Time – ages 16 months to 30 months – the child’s birthday should come between March 2015 and May 2016. Parent/caregiver attends with the child. This program is offered at two times: Thursdays from 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. and Fridays from 9:30 to 9:50 a.m. Register online. The Thursday program is full, but the waiting list is open.

Tot Time – Ages 2 ½ to 3 ½ years old – Child’s birthdate should come between March 2014 and March 2015. Parent/caregiver attends with the child. This program is offered at two times, Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10 a.m. and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Preschool Storytime for ages 3 ½ to 5 years old – the child’s birthday should come before March 2014. Parent/caregiver attendance is optional. The program is offered at two different times, on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and Wednesdays, from 1:30 to 2 p.m.

The programs begin on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and run through Nov. 17 at the library, 32 South Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.  Register online at the Bernards Township Library Website or by phone at 908-204-3031.

Somerset County 4-H Trainmasters Annual Winter Show Set

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County 4-H Trainmasters annual Winter Train show at the Ted Blum 4-H Center, on Milltown Road, is being held Jan. 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
