BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ There is plenty of time for Republican and Democratic candidates to spar for the one position open on the Bernards Townshoip Committee before the November general election -- but it doesn't appear there will be a contest on the upcoming June primary ballot, with just one candidate filing to represent each of the two local parties.

When the deadline for filing to be included on the June 4 primary ballot passed on Monday afternoon, April 1, the two candidates who had filed were Democrat Sophia Chadda and Republican Janice Fields, according to the Bernards Township municipal clerk's office.

Both Fields and Chadda had been endorsed by the local Republican and Democratic organizations earlier in March.

Voters in the June primary election can also write in candidates for positions on the ballot.
