FAR HILLS, NJ - The largest rummage sale in New Jersey -- the fundraising Rummage Sale for the Basking Ridge-based Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills -- will begin accepting donations this Saturday, April 7, for items to resell at the VNA's spring sale, scheduled for May 4 to 6.

The donation period will begin on Saturday, April 7, and continue every day except Sunday through Wed., April 25.

Donations can be dropped off at the Far Hills Fairgrounds, at the intersection of US 202 & Peapack Road in Far Hills. Volunteers will be on location to assist people bringing tax-deductible donations from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. on those days. Whether books, toys or clothing, furniture or artwork and unique household goods, the rummage sale each spring and fall has about two dozen organized tent "departments" that draw shoppers from throughout New Jersey and beyond. All of the thousands of items sold each year are donated prior to the sale.

This year's spring rummage sale, typically the largest sale of the year, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 4 and 5., and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 6.

A huge variety of clothing, household merchandise, sporting goods, toys and other items is accepted. The complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items is available at http://bitly.com/rummagedonations . Proceeds from the volunteer-run sale will provide home health, hospice care and wellness services to community members and families in need. In addition, dollars raised will help enable the VNA to offer important wellness services not covered by any insurance.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers -- many from the Somerset Hills --  make the sale possible. Volunteer opportunities are also available during the sale and donation period offering flexible hours and shopping benefits.

For more information about making donations, the rummage sale, or volunteer opportunities, check online at the VNA of Somerset Hills website, and on Facebook
