BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ While continuing to observe social distancing precautions in the era of COVID-19, the Bernards Township Committee has scheduled another public meeting for 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the public meeting room at town hall at 1 Collyer Lane, 

Among the items on the July 28 public meeting agenda is a recommendation by township staff to award a contract for improvements to North Maple Avenue, one of the main roadways in town, to American Asphalt & Milling Services of Kearny, NJ, in the amount of $656,798.40.

That bid was the lowest of nine received by the township.

The money for the proposed project has already been set aside in the municipal budget.

The municipal building will be open for the meeting and will adhere to a state order regarding social distancing. The indoor gathering will be limited to 25 percent of the room's capacity or no more than 51 individuals. All attendees must wear face coverings and remain six feet apart.
