BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Bernards Township officials have announced Monday that Tuesday's scheduled Township Committee meeting will be conducted via Zoom Video Conferencing due to the COVID-19 outbreak and Governor’s Murphy’s order to limit public gatherings to minimize any person to person exposure. The meeting has been scheduled for 3 p.m., according to information.
The public will be able to view the meeting live on Optimum/Cablevision TV, Channel 15 and Verizon FiOS TV, Channel 35, according to the township announcement on Monday evening.
Public comment will be accepted only during the public comment period in the meeting, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, according to the announcement. The meeting had previously been scheduled to be held in open session.
The municipal building at 1 Collyer Lane will remain closed. Formal action will be taken.
The meeting agenda, posted online on the Bernards Township website, includes the planned introduction of the proposed 2020 municipal budget.
"We must all take seriously the concern of social distancing and our open public meetings are no exception," Mayor James Baldassare Jr. said earlier on Monday as the township was working on options for having the meeting remotely with Township Committee members, staff, and also providing opportunity for public comment.
