BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ In honor of Veteran’s Day, Bernards Township is again sponsoring the “Field of Honor” display of more than 100 flags on the lawn of the Bernards Township Municipal Building, scheduled to be dedicated in a public ceremony at noon, Nov. 3.
Deadline for adopting flag is Oct. 31
For $30, the public is able adopt a flag in the Field of Honor to dedicate in honor of a living veteran, or in memory of their special veteran. The deadline for adopting one or more flags is Thursday, Oct. 31.
Donations will benefit Community Hope's “Hope for Veterans” programs at the Lyons Veterans Administration campus off Valley Road in Basking Ridge. The programs and housing at the VA ensure a safe haven, care and training for 106 homeless and disabled veterans every day.
Township officials urged the public to attend the dedication during comments at this week's Bernards Township Committee meeting.
Flags to be displayed Nov. 1 to 17
In honor of Veteran’s Day, the American flags will be displayed on the front lawn of the Bernards Township Municipal Building at 1 Collyer Lane in Basking Ridge between Nov. 1 to 17. The display will recognize and show honor to the veterans who have dedicated themselves to the protection of Americans' freedom.
There are two ways to adopt a flag.
The public can donate online at on the Community Hope website.
Donations can also be made by mail. Send a check made payable to “Community Hope, Inc.” with contact information and the name of your honoree, to 959 Route 46 East, Suite 402, Parsippany, NJ 07054.
General donations may be made directly to Community Hope at any time.
Honorees, families and area residents are welcome to attend. Bernards Township Municipal Building at noon on Sunday, Nov. 3.
