BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Weather permitting, New Jersey American Water is due to begin work this week on installation of a new 20-inch transmission water main, 4,660 feet in length, along South and North Maple Avenue between Prospect Avenue and East Craig Street, according to information from the township.

The contractor hired to perform the project, CRJ Contracting, is due to begin work staring on Monday, June 10, with a projected completing date of approximately four weeks.

With the township's permission, work hours have been scheduled for overnights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday evening through Saturday morning.  

Detours will be in place during these work hours. Motorists are asked to follow all posted detours and signage.  

Work outside of these hours is not expected unless required to maintain project schedule. Once the transmission main is installed, the road surface will be repaved and restored, according to the township.
