Reported Bernards Power Outages Finally Down to Just Over 100 On Sunday Night

BERNARDS TWP., NJ - Bernards Township issued a Sunday night update at 8:45 p.m. passing along a JCPL report that the number of township customers was down to 131, down from more than 3,000 outages last Friday. 

As restoration continues into Monday, customers who are without power are encouraged to call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com, township officials reported.

The updated information includes the news that all township schools will be open tomorrow. The Board of Education is also on for 7 p.m. on Monday at the Cedar Hill School, 100 Peachtree Road, in Basking Ridge.

The update also includes the information that the following roads remain closed:

Manchester Drive & Tangelwood Lane – tree and wires down - crews working there now...projected to be open by morning.

The following roads remain obstructed or otherwise compromised:


Flintlock – Tree blocking lane – no wires - passable
Gerard Avenue and Debra Lane - Tree blocking lane – no wires
Gerard Avenue and Lyons Place - Tree blocking lane – no wires
Dryden Road – Wires down near #25 – road passable
Whitenack Road & Emily Road – Tree and wires down – road passable
Old Army Road near Old Farm Road – low hanging wire –road passable

Piscataway Man Identified in Pedestrian Fatality on I-287 in Bridgewater Wednesday

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Piscataway man was identified as the tow truck operator killed when he was struck by another vehicle on I-287 in Bridgewater Wednesday afternoon, according to NJ State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele.

Nicholas Coble, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by a vehicle while clearing another car from the roadway at 1:44 p.m.
