BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Bernards Township on Monday announced the launching of a Senior Help Line for older residents needing assistance with such tasks as groceries, meals, or obtaining other necessities during the current COVID-19 lockdown.
The township will be working in coordination with approved and vetted organizations and with local volunteers, such the community volunteer group Basking Ridge Helping Basking Ridge, the announcement said.

The Senior Help Line, posted on the Bernards Township website, is 908-204-0777. Resident senior citizens seeking assistance can either call that number, or email the township at email@example.com.
Anyone calling or emailing the hot line is asked to include: 1) Their first and last name; 2) Their home address and phone number where they can be reached; 3) What type of assistance is needed; and 4) If the caller has special needs related to the request.
Township staff will then forward the message to an approved community group who will contact the caller with a response.

Mayor Jim Baldassare thanked the efforts of the volunteer group Basking Ridge Helping Basking Ridge, along with their affiliated organizations and volunteers, for "truly making a difference for our seniors here in town."
He also thanked Township Administrator Pat Monaco and our Parks & Recreation Director Jennifer Gander and her staff for making the launch of the hotline possible.
