Collegiate Equestrian: Local Students Make NCEA ALL-Academic Teams

WACO, Texas — The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced the 2018 Farnam NCEA All-Academic Teams on April 5, recognizing student-athletes for success both in the arena and in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year. Several riders are from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Farnam NCEA All-Academic First Team

Must have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of the school’s meets, not including demo or exhibition rides. Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.

Must have competed in a minimum of 60 percent of the school’s meets, not including demo or exhibition rides. Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.

Emily Nelson, Glenville, Pa., Delaware State

Farnam NCEA All-Academic Honorable Mention Team

Must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of the school’s meets, not including demo or exhibition rides. Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous spring and fall semesters, respectively.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after being struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall on Monday.

Marion Kelley, 62, was struck by a vehicle while walking in Lot 4 near the Macy's merchandise pick up area at around 3:20 p.m. Monday.
