WELLINGTON, Fla. — To celebrate the launch of Brooke USA's new initiative, Margaret Duprey of Cherry Knoll Farm welcomed Brooke USA and its supporters to her home in Wellington, Fla. to kick off the Women 4 Donkeys program with a cocktail reception.

Duprey, Brooke USA's first ambassador, has a been a long-time supporter and issued a fundraising dollar-for-dollar challenge up to $50,000, which will fund the program in two Kenyan communities.

"As a longtime ambassador for Brooke USA, I am thrilled with their new movement to help support women in underdeveloped countries," Duprey said. "Through the programs Brooke USA funds, they help equine owners, service providers and governments in the developing world to implement scientifically practical, sustainable and culturally relevant solutions to equine welfare challenges."

The Women 4 Donkeys campaign seeks to improve the livelihood of women in Kenya and other rural countries around the world by establishing welfare programs for their working equines they rely on daily. Eighty percent of caregivers for donkeys are women, and the donkeys serve as a source of livelihood for 70 percent of rural women. Brooke USA is looking to help the women in these countries care for their donkeys so they can continue to support themselves and their families. With Duprey's generous match, the campaign can provide education and care to two communities in Kenya with the possibility to develop a program in a third village.

Fellow Brooke USA ambassadors including Olympians Kasey Perry-Glass and Allison Brock, as well as international Grand Prix competitors Mikala Münter Gundersen and ambassador JJ Tate were in attendance along with board members Katherine Bellissimo and Marcia Kulak. Brooke UK's Rachel Bhageerutty also gave a presentation to the guests highlighting the diverse programs the organization funds, and many of the guests mingled with Brooke UK's Brendon Elliot.
