BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ -- High winds overnight left trees down, power out and some roads impassable Friday morning in the township.
According to Bernards Township Chief of Police Mike Shimsky, Archgate Road by Lyons Road was impassable Friday morning, and "a lot of tree and wires are down."
Bernards Township was being reported as having 434 JCP&L customers without power, including Liberty Corner School, which had partial power. Shimsky also reported that the flag in Liberty Corner Center became tangled in the power lines due to the winds, which weather reports forecast would exceed 50 mph overnight.
Township and Somerset County Department of Public Works crews were working throughout the municipality to assess damage and clean up.
