BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ -- A section of the Amherst Mews development was blocked off by township police Wednesday evening in response to a potentially dangerous domestic incident.
According to Bernards Township Chief of Police Mike Shimsky, the Bernards Township Police received a 9-1-1 call from a female resident of the Amherst Mews section of the Hills at around 7 p.m. that a family member was allegedly making threatening statements towards her and police. The caller also indicated that the family member potentially had access to firearms.
The Bernards Township Police immediately responded to the home and were quickly able to make contact with the suspect individual without incident. Based on the circumstances, police officers tactically deployed to the neighborhood to reduce the potential exposure of danger to surrounding residents.
