BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Continuing a number of delivery package thefts in Bernards Township, a resident of the 10 block of Alexandria Way reported the theft of a package which was delivered to a business on 17 Columbia Road in Basking Ridge, said township police, who logged the complaint at about 10 a.m. on Jan. 15. 

The contents of the package consisted of plumbing supplies estimated to be worth approximately $500, according to the police report. No suspects were reported.

Also on Jan. 15, at about 8:30 p.m., the Stop and Shop supermarket at 445 South Finley Ave reported a shoplifting incident in which two males working together allegedly stole both baby formula and Red Bull totaling approximately $230, according to township police.

Police said the store staff described the first suspect as a black male in his early 60’s wearing a long brown trench coat, jeans and a green beanie style hat. The other suspect was described as a white male in his 50’s wearing pants with a horizontal red stripe down the side, according to police. Police asked to be contacted with anyone with information on the duo.

Officer's vehicle strikes bobcat, sustains damage

Police also said that on Jan. 17 shortly after 2:30 a.m., Officer Moore, while driving south on North Maple Avenue had a bobcat run out from the wood line and strike his police cruiser. The bobcat expired on the scene, police reported. The police cruiser sustained damage to the front passenger side.

The expired animal was transported to the health department and animal control was notified, according to the police report.
