Robertson provided the following account:

A 911 call was received at 4:20 p.m., Jan. 27 by Green Brook police reporting the armed robbery at the Verizon store. Witnesses told police two men wearing ski masks, one with a gun, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, left the store, and got in to a car driven by the third suspect.

The getaway vehicle was subsequently located by Piscataway Police in an area off of Old New Brunswick Road in Piscataway. One of the individuals, later identified as  Barksdale, jumped out of the vehicle but was apprehended by Piscataway officers. The proceeds from the robbery were also located in the area by the Piscataway officers.

A short time later, a South Bound Brook Police patrol officer saw the suspect vehicle; the two occupants stopped the vehicle and fled on foot.  One of the suspects, later identified as Cumberbatch, attempted to forcibly remove a driver from a nearby vehicle, but was stopped from doing so by police and was arrested.

Police continue to search for the third suspect, whose identity is unknown.
