PHILLIPSBURG, NJ -- The Ridge boys basketball team turned in a strong defensive effort to defeat Phillipsburg, 44-34, Tuesday night.

Gavin Kreitz, a sophomore guard, scored 17 points for the Red Devils (9-7), who built a 24-12 halftime lead with matching 12-6 quarters in each of the first two frames.

Easton Smith finished with 10 points and Jayden Hylton grabbed 11 rebounds for Ridge, which arrived at the 16-game cutoff with a winning record. The Red Devils' official seeding in next month's Section 2, Group 4 state tournament will be released later this month.
