BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- A stifling defensive effort helped Ridge establish a big first-half lead on its way to a 48-31 boys basketball victory over J.P. Stevens on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Gavin Kreitz scored 14 points for the Red Devils (11-7), who held J.P. Stevens (3-19) to just four points in the first half as they took a 17-point halftime lead.

Sophomore center Jayden Hylton finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds, Nick Losada had nine points and Easton Smith notched eight points for Ridge, which has won nine of its last 11 games.
