SUMMIT, NJ -- The Ridge girls basketball team opened a highly anticipated season with two victories in less than 24 hours.

The Red Devils defeated Immaculata, 61-34, on Friday night and then Oak Knoll, 61-49, early Saturday.

Against Immaculata, Ridge broke the game open with an 18-4 run in the second quarter to build a 30-10 lead. Senior guard Taylor Smith led Ridge with 17 points and senior point guard Sophie Beneventine finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Lauren Lusardi collected 14 points and seven rebounds. Allie Byrne led Ridge on the boards with nine rebounds.

Against Oak Knoll, Ridge ran out to a 20-10 lead and had a 30-16 lead at the half. Smith paced the Red Devils with 16 points, Beneventine had 13 points, Delaney Donohoe 11 points and Ava Haiback 10 points in the win.
