BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- The Ridge girls soccer team opened play in the Section 2, Group 4 tournament with a 3-0 victory over Franklin on Monday.

Becca Picardo scored two goals for the Red Devils (10-7-1), who had a 1-0 lead at halftime. Payton Uhrig scored a goal and assisted on one of Picardo's goals. Heather Cortese doled out two assists in the victory.

Ridge outshot Franklin, 15-4. Allison Miscia made four saves. Ridge is likely to play at Bridgewater-Raritan in the quarterfinals on Thursday if BRHS defeats Plainfield in the first round. Bridgewater-Raritan just won the Somerset County Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Ridge in the final.
