SOMERSET, NJ -- The Ridge ice hockey team honored head coach Tim Mullin, then went out and scored four goals in the first period on its way to a 5-2 victory over Msgr. Farrell of New York.

Mullin, who recently achieved the 400th victory of his coaching career, was honored by Ridge High School and many former players in a pre-game ceremony.

Once the game started, Ridge (12-2-3) came out fast, with Reese Judson, Grant Loges, Colin Kirkwood and Matt Balzarotti all scoring goals to give the Red Devils a 4-1 lead after one period. Balzarotti added a second goal in the third period.

Judson and Erik Helgeson finished with two assists apiece and Marcus Fabiunke made 12 saves for Ridge. Nick DelGaizo and Eric Schubert each contributed one assist.
