SOMERSET, NJ -- The Ridge ice hockey team moved on in the state tournament with an 8-2 victory over Ridgewood in the quarterfinal round of the Public B state tournament Monday afternoon at ProTec Ponds.

Reese Judson scored three goals and Nick DelGaizo compiled four assists for the Red Devils (18-5-5), the defending champs who scored three goals in the first period and three more unanswered in the second period for a 6-0 lead going into the third period.

Matt Balzarotti finished with two goals and one assist, and Erik Helgeson also scored two goals for Ridge. Grant Loges scored one goal, and Ty Ebeling totaled three assists in the victory. Colin Kirkwood and Eric Schubert had one assist each.

Winning goalie Marcus Fabiunke stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced.
