BASKING RIDGE, NJ — For the second consecutive week, the Ridge football team was forced to alter its schedule on the fly and change opponents just days before a game.

The Red Devils now will be playing on the road against Union High School Friday night at 7 p.m. Ridge had originally been scheduled to play at home against St. Joseph of Metuchen, but the Middlesex County school was forced to pull out because of COVID-19 related contact tracing issues that impacted its football roster.

Ridge was originally slated to play Union on Oct. 30. As of now, that date is now vacant on the Ridge schedule.

Of possible note, neighboring Bernards High School also is without an opponent the weekend of Oct. 30. The two programs generally do not meet on the football field. Ridge is a Group 5 and Bernards a Group 2 school. But each does need an opponent for Halloween weekend as of now.
