BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Looks like Bernards Township residents will have to wait even a bit longer before they might jump into the town pool. The projected opening date of the Pleasant Valley Pool complex, originally tentatively set for June 20, has now been pushed back to July 1.

Township Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Gander confirmed by email the change in the anticipated opening date of the municipal pool complex, which is located at Pleasant Valley Park off Valley Road in Basking Ridge.

"We are still without guidance from the state as to if/when/how we can reopen," Gander said in an email on Thursday afternoon. "That has further delayed our preparation plans."

Earlier in the week, Gander said that opening day at PVP was posted as June 20, but the township was still waiting for guidance from the state health department for guidance before deciding how to proceed.

As of Tuesday, she said the township Pool Commission was expecting to discuss in general what might be required of for pool operations, open to members and their guests, during the COVID-19 pandemic on Thursday afternoon.

Traditionally, the Pleasant Valley Pool complex opens on Memorial Day weekend, and remains open through Labor Day.
