BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Opening day at the township's municipal Pleasant Valley Pool complex is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 20, said Jennifer Gander, director of the Bernards Township Parks and Recreation department.

"As of right now, opening day is posted as June 20, but we are still awaiting guidance from the state health department," Gander said in an email on Tuesday. The pool is located at Pleasant Valley Park off Valley Road.

The township Pool Commission may discuss in general what might be required of for pool operations during the COVID-19 pandemic at an upcoming commission meeting scheduled for May 21, Gander said.

However, Gander added that the township will not be discussing what specific safety measures would be implemented without the actual guidelines on operations from the state.

The "virtual" township Pool Commission meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 21, and will be held using Zoom Video Conferencing, according to a notice from the township. Information on how the public can attend the virtual meeting and provide public comment is due to be listed when the meeting agenda can be listed on the township website, www.bernards.org.

However, the township website remains closed after last week's ransomware attack on the township network system, township officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Municipal meetings have been viewable on either the township website or on public access television stations since concern about slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus closed the township municipal building in March.
