ALTOONA, Pa. - The Ridge 13U baseball team defeated North Buffalo, N.Y., 11-1, in the opening game of pool play for the Babe Ruth Middle-Atlantic Regional Tournament on Saturday.

Connor Byrne got the start on the mound for Ridge. He struck out seven and allowed just one unearned run over three full innings to record the victory. Andrew Reynolds struck out five in a scoreless two-inning relief effort and Julian Kielb struck out two in the sixth, when the 10-run rule was invoked for the victory for the Northern New Jersey champs.

Nick Rossi drove in four runs, including a three-run double to the left-center field fence, for Ridge. Brendan Callanan had three hits and two RBI on the day. Kevin Taylor and Adam Meiner each had two hits.

Next up for Ridge on Sunday is Centre County Youth Baseball of Bellefonte, Pa.
