ALTOONA, Pa. -- The Ridge 13U baseball team has secured the top seed in the Middle-Atlantic Regional Tournament playoffs by defeating West End, Pa., 4-2, in Tuesday’s final pool play game. The Red Devils  will receive a bye to the semifinal round on Thursday.

Julian Kielb got the win for Ridge, lasting four innings, allowing three hits and no runs while striking out three and walking one.  Brendan Callanan threw three innings in relief , striking out six, for the save.

Nick Rossi went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the first to score Callanan. Tyler Helpinstill drove in 2 and Adam Meiner drove in another in the seventh when Ridge went up, 4-0.

Great defense by Nick Rossi behind the plate and lock-down fielding provided the results the team was looking for, to live another day.

Coming into the game, West End was undefeated at 3-0 and Ridge was 2-1.

On Monday, Ridge suffered its only loss so far on the trip, 10-4, to Atlantic Shore of South Jersey. Kevin Taylor and Nick Rossi each had two hits for the Red Devils.
