BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- Greg Bozzo, a catcher on the Ridge High School baseball team, recently signed a letter of intent to attend LaSalle University, where he will continue his athletic career.
Bozzo emerged in a leadership role as a junior for a Ridge team that in 2019 reached both the Somerset County Tournament and Section 2, Group 4 championship games. Known for his strong arm and deft handling of pitchers, Bozzo hit two home runs for Ridge in the state tournament, including a grand slam in a victory over Bridgewater-Raritan.
"In my 20 years as a coach, nobody has had more of an impact as a leader on the program than Greg," Ridge head baseball coach Tom Blackwell said. "I know we are in good shape when our best player is our hardest worker, and that is certainly the case. Whether it is weight room or on the field, Greg is the last guy to leave. I love him, and and LaSalle is getting a great one."
