BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- The Ridge High School boys and girls swim teams finished in third place and fifth place, respectively, at the Skyland Conference Championship meet on Monday at Montgomery High School.

Their efforts were highlighted by performances from freshman Emily Wang, who was an individual champion in the 100-yard breaststroke with a new team record of 1:06.61. Wang also placed third in the 200-yard freestyle with a new team record time of 1:55.61.  The girls 200-yard free relay team (Lucy Hess, Chelsea Lu, Ayla D’Silva, E. Wang) placed fourth and the 200-yard medley relay team (E. Wang, Maggie Hannis, Sophie Paul. C. Lu) placed fifth.

For the boys, senior Chris Fabian placed second in both the 50-yard free and 100 backstroke, and senior Ethan Chiu placed third in the 500 free and fourth in the 200 free. Sophomore AJ Capizzi took fifth place in the 100 fly. Additionally the boys 400 free relay team (Fabian, Chiu, Daniel Xia, Capizzi) placed third and the 200 medley relay team (Fabian, Seif Elnawawi, Xia, Capizzi) placed fourth.

On Tuesday, the girls team defeated the Pingry girls, 86-84, while the boys team suffered a 119-51 loss to the Pingry boys team. The girls meet was highlighted by Wang’s first-place finish in the 500-yard free and the 200-yard IM, Hannis’ first place in the 100 breaststroke and second place in the 200 IM, and sophomore Emily Shepard rounded out the 1,2,3 finish for the girls in the 200 IM.

Senior Chelsea Lu took second place in both the 200 free and 500 free, while sophomore Tracy Lu placed second in the 50 free.  The girls sealed the win when the team of Wang, Hess, Paul and Hannis won the 400 free relay.

For the boys, Fabian took first place in the 200 IM and second in the 500 free, while Capizzi placed second in the 200 free and the 100 backstroke, and Ethan Chiu placed second in the 200 IM.
