BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- The Ridge girls soccer team got its scrimmage season under way this past week with two matches.

The Red Devils opened their scrimmage slate by outscoring venerable Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 3-0, on the road in sweltering conditions on Thursday. Sammy Powers, Caroline McEnroe and Rebecca Picardo each scored a goal, and Allison Miscia and Carly Villa split time in goal to post the shutout.

Coach Katie Donahue's team, which also went against West Morris Central over the weekend, will scrimmage at home against Northern Highlands at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30 in advance of the regular-season opener, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Montgomery.

Ridge's regular-season home opener will be Thursday, Sept. 5 against Toms River North at 5 p.m.
